President Donald Trump:”The border wall will be tougher to climb than Mount Everest!”

President Donald Trump assured a crowd of law enforcement officials Wednesday that construction of a wall on the U.S.-Mexico border is “far along” and that it will be tougher to climb than Mount Everest.

“This wall is very, very on its way. It’s happening as we speak,” Trump told a gathering of U.S. sheriffs in Washington. “We’re building as we speak in the most desperately needed areas.”

Donald Trump:”…And a lot of people, including me, thought soccer would probably never make it in this country, but it really is moving forward rapidly!”

President Donald Trump’s most specific lines from Super Bowl interview with CBS News’ Margaret Brennan

1. “Well, I don’t — I don’t take anything off the table. I don’t like to take things off the table.”
2. “And this really is an invasion of our country by human traffickers.”
3. “You need a wall. And anybody that says you don’t, they’re just playing games.”
4. “I think [Pelosi] is very bad for our country.”
5. “And on the 15th we have now set the table beautifully because everybody knows what’s going on because of this shutdown.”

President Donald Trump: “It’s a barrier from people pouring into the country, from drugs!”

Donald Trump has marked Christmas Day by insisting the partial shutdown of the federal government will last until his demand for funds to build a wall on the US-Mexico border is met.

The US government partially shut down on Saturday, and there is not yet any sign of tangible efforts to reopen agencies closed by a political impasse over Trump’s demand for border wall funds.

Donald Trump:“The wall will save hundreds of billions of dollars – many many times what it’s going to cost!”

Visiting California for the first time since assuming the presidency, President Donald Trump has called his wish for a border wall with Mexico a national necessity, as he accused the state of putting the “entire nation at risk” by not dealing with illegal immigration.

“If you don’t have a wall system, we’re not going to have a country”, Mr Trump said.

The President was touring eight wall prototypes, erected near the border in the San Diego area, that stand as the chief concrete progress towards one of his central campaign promises. Congress has so far not allocated the billions of dollars needed to build the larger structure, with the Trump administration seeking $18bn (£12.9bn) for the first phase.
